You must have either a valid library card or a guest pass to use our public access computers.
In order to sign on to a computer, click on the word "Available." Enter your 13 digit library barcode number (no spaces) and your PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number) in the box that comes up, and hit enter. Then click "Confirm".
If all the computers are busy, you may reserve a computer using our reservation system. There are reservation computers at the Reference Desk and Circulation area. You will need to know your library barcode number and your PIN. The wait usually ranges from five to ten minutes, but varies according to demand.
Guest passes are available for Internet use at the Circulation Desk. Photo ID is required.
Your PIN number is the last 4 digits of the phone number on your library account.
Library card holders have a 5 hour per day limit; guest passes are limited to an hour and a half.
Yes, we have wireless. There is no password required and no time limit.
No, all printing must be done from library computers.

We do not have a color copier. The black and white copier is 25¢ per page.
We have a scanner at the Information desk. A reference librarian will scan your document and save it on a USB that you provide. We don't charge to scan documents.
We don't have a fax machine at this time.
Microfilm/microfiche copies are 25¢ per page.
We do offer downloadable ebooks and audio books in conjunction with the Four County Library System. Procedures for use will vary slightly according to device, but you will need your library card number and your PIN number. Kindle users will also need their Amazon account information. You may log into your account by entering your library card number and your PIN number in the green box on the homepage of our website. Your user ID will be the 13 digit barcode number on the back of your library card and the PIN for most people is the last four digits of the phone number on your library account.
You may use this feature to renew items, check your holds and due dates, change your PIN and pay fines.
The loan period for most items is 3 weeks. Some videos and other items have shorter loan periods or certain restrictions.
You can renew most materials in person, by telephone or online (videos and DVDs cannot be renewed). The library will notify you if books are overdue. Let us know promptly if you change your address or telephone number. Lost or stolen library cards must be reported right away. Anything taken out on your card is your responsibility unless the card is reported missing.
Books and magazines may be renewed for an additional 3 weeks if there are no reserves waiting. Items may be renewed at the library, by telephone or online by signing into your account. DVDs and videos may NOT be renewed.
Books, magazines, audiobooks, music CD’s and movies that are currently in circulation may be reserved either online through the library catalog or at the Reference Desk (778-6451). There is a 25₵ fee for each item reserved.
Our books can be returned to any public library in Broome, Chenango, Delaware or Otsego counties.
To check out materials, you need a valid Broome County Public Library card or a library card from one of the other libraries in the Four County Library System. To apply for a card, bring identification with your name and current address on it. You will have to fill out an application form which will take a few minutes.

Library cards are free to all people who live or own property in Broome, Chenango, Delaware or Otsego Counties. Your card can be used at any of the 4CLS libraries in these counties. You can find a list of all of the 4CLS libraries on their Web site. For individuals who do not reside in one of these counties, you must pay a nonresident fee of $50 to obtain a subscription card. This subscription card can be used at any of the 4CLS member libraries and will be active for one year.
There is a $1.50 fee to replace a lost library card.
Your card will expire every 3 years. Renewing your card is free; bring identification with your name and current address on it to the Circulation Desk.
The Broome County Library has access to an online catalog which enables library card holders to access resources from any book within the Four County Library System (4CLS). In addition, BCPL card holders can fill out an interlibrary loan form to request materials from libraries not in the system.
