The Friends is an organization building a new partnership between the library and the community by contributing services that enhance community access for all people.
Our Purpose
Our Fundraising Projects
Our fundraising projects help to support special library activities. In 2012, the Friends provided over $29,000 in support for special programs and items not covered by the library's regular budget. All proceeds from our book sales and sales in the gift shop support the library.
Some of the projects funded recently by the Friends include:
Each year, the Friends support the Children's Summer Reading Program. The 2018 Libraries Rock! Summer Reading Program was a BUSY summer, with 70 programs offered, drawing a total attendance of over 2,200.
The theme for this year's Summer Reading Program, which the Friends are also sponsoring, will be A Universe of Stories
The Friends also sponsor family craft programs, family STEAM programs, game programs, teen programs, seasonal programs, and programs for families that homeschool. Youth Services Department staff is very grateful to the Friends of the Library for providing the funding that makes these programs a success. Without their support, library programs would not be possible, and we appreciate all of the hard work that they do.
