Storytime at the BC Library

The Youth Services Department offers a wide variety of materials for the recreational, informational, and educational needs of children of all ages. Our friendly and courteous staff enjoys working with children and being challenged by their diverse reference questions. We also provide some resources for parents, educators, and caregivers. The Summer Reading Program
(A Family Reading Program)
Registration Begins June 29th

There are many exciting programs scheduled for all ages.
We have special teen (age 13 and older) programs scheduled all summer long.

Family Reading Program Teen Reading Program
You can register for the Summer Reading Program at the library or by sending an email to youth@co.broome.ny.us
Please type "SRP signup" in the subject line of the email and make sure you include the names of all the family members who are participating in the program in the email message you send. Next to each name, please indicate if he/she is a child or adult.
Download the reading log to begin your fun family summer adventure! Logs need to be turned in August 8th.

Teen Volunteers Needed!

The Youth Services Department needs volunteers for this summer or for the September 2009 school year! Do you need to volunteer a few hours over the summer or maybe you need volunteer hours for next school year? We can help, just contact us! Please visit the Youth Services Department for more information or to pick up the necessary forms. All applicants must agree to a security check. Applications completed now will be cleared to volunteer by June. For more information, call the Youth Services Department, 778-6456.

Short Stacks - ages 13-14
Assist staff with shelving, flexible summer morning , afternoon or Saturday hours, Teen Advisory Group

Medium Stacks - ages 15- 16
Shelving, as needed, assist staff with summer morning or afternoon or Saturday programs, Teen Advisory Group, and Fall 2009 programs.

Tall Stacks- ages 17 - 18
Assist staff with summer evening programs , Teen Advisory Group, and Fall 2009 programs.


Tours:

Tours and special story-times are available to community and school groups. Please notify us at least two weeks before desired date.
